FAQ: FAQ

WHAT IS A PSYCHIATRIST?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who are experts in mental health. They specialise in diagnosing and treating people with mental illness. Psychiatrists have a deep understanding of physical and mental health, and how they affect each other.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST APPOINTMENT?

The first appointment usually lasts for approximately 60 minutes. At the end of this initial appointment, I will provide feedback to you regarding my initial impressions, and discuss a collaborative plan for ongoing treatment, and whether I am the most suitable practitioner to provide your psychiatric care.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE YOU?

I am not currently in a position to accept referrals for new patients.

Some of my colleagues at The Good Group Clinic, however, may be in a position to review your referral.

If you think you need to see a Psychiatrist, you will need a referral from your GP or another medical doctor. Your referral will be reviewed. If someone is able to offer you an initial assessment, one of our administrative staff will contact you to offer you an initial appointment.

FEES AND PAYMENT

The Good Group Clinic is not a bulk billing practice. The clinic sets its fees based upon the recommended rates published by the Australian Medical Association. Payment is required to be made in full on the day of each appointment. With a referral, you should be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
